Here at Fine Line Family K-9 we take pride in our medical alert animals. All of our service dogs are trained specifically for their handler. These dogs are thoroughly trained in public access behavior (manners and obedience), and disability-related work and tasks.
Emergency Medical Response Dogs (EMRD) are trained to respond to a medical event such as an epileptic seizure, diabetes-related fluctuations in blood sugar, and in some cases seizures caused by psychiatric disorders. Our dogs detect the subtle changes in a person’s odor, respiration rates, and behavior before the average human’s ability to do so. FLFK9’s dogs are trained to nudge or paw their human partner when they notice something different, which allows the person to either take preventative medicine or get themselves in a safe place before a seizure occurs. They can then be trained to let out an alert (bark) and brace during a seizure as compression to prevent injury as well as help you get back on your feet when the seizure is finished. Each of FLFK9’s dogs are trained specially for the medical and physical needs of their handler.
Service dogs are legally guaranteed full public access and are able to accompany their partners to all public places, including stores, the airport, work, school, and restaurants. During their training service dogs are required a minimum of 40 public service hours to ensure they are well socialized before going to work with their new handler.
FLFK9 provides ongoing lifetime support for all of our clients.
